Sight seeing in the heart of the alps
Due to the central location at the entrance of the Ötztal Valley, the many tourist attractions and scenic beauties of the region are close by and easy accessible from Oetz.
You can reach the landscape conservation area of the shoots of the Ache at the “Wellerbrücke” and the picturesque “Piburg See” Lake on a foot path from Oetz, and the highest water fall of Tyrol, the “Stuibenfall”, is only a 10 minutes drive away. With the mountain lifts you ascend to the mountain pastures effortless, and panoramic routes offer breathtaking views of the noumerous summits and glaciers of the Ötztal Alps, the glacier road takes you all the way up to the eternal ice.
The museums of Ötztal invite you to explore the history of the valley and discover its treasures. In the old part of Oetz you will find one of the last well preserved village centers of Tyrol with specially picturesque architecture and the church located on a rock above Oetz.
Tyrols capital Innsbruck is located only a 30 minutes drive from Oetz and offers a great variety of sight-seeing with its historical old-town centre and famous sights, such as the golden roof, the imperial palace, the imperial church, Ambras castle, the Schwarz Mander church, giant painting, and the alpine zoo, Europe´s highest zoo.
With an excursion over Tyrols highest alpine crossing, the Timmelsjoch, you can visit the former capital of Tyrol, Meran, and enjoy its mediteranian climat.
The nearby Monastry of Stift Stams, the Bavarian castles, highlighted by Neuschwanstein, the swarowski cristal worlds in Wattens or the silver mines in Schwaz are only a few excursion highlights, that add to a holiday stay in the Ötztal Valley.
